Max Holland manages the "Tour de Canterbury Rotary" and provided this update of the recent adventures of the rotary bike group.
This week, the ride started from Watergardens station on the Sunbury line. We went west through Hillside and down the Stony Hill Creek trail to Caroline Springs for coffee at the Roger Roger Cafe. We then followed the Kororoit Creek Trail to Sunshine.
Along the way there were many Themeda (Kangaroo) Grassland reserves. We rode along a raised metal track through one of the reserves which is described in the following web link.
The photo was taken at the historic Cairnlea Black Powder Mill, which manufactured gunpowder. The following link is a short documentary entitled Saving the Black Powder Mill about the building's history and preservation.
Lunch was at Castello’s Derrimut Hotel near the Sunshine station for the trip home.
