FORaMEAL van purchase

Everyone in the Rotary Club of Canterbury will be well aware of our fantastic FORaMEAL project providing food for emergency hand-out wherever it is needed.  This year alone we have sent 100,000 meals to The Philippines (where some has already distributed by our sister club after a massive earthquake); and a similar amount is being flown to Ukraine by the Australian Air Force.

 

In this school term we have had 8 packing events with local schools and even as recently as last week 25,000 meals were packed by 140 Caulfield Grammar students. 

 

An idea initiated by David Shave has resulted in our purchase of a truck to help transportation requirements and avoid the frequent difficulties and constraints of hiring one for each event.  The truck has been invaluable reducing volunteer effort and unnecessary duplication.

 

To reduce the impact on our Club’s funds of purchasing the truck a number of Rotarians have contributed to its purchase.  If you can assist, your donation would be welcome at:

The FORaMEAL truck committee is also seeking further financial support to paint the outside of the truck to promote FORaMEAL, our Club and Rotary.  This could include advertising and thus be tax deductible.  If you know a potential sponsor, we would welcome an introduction.
