A Note from the Prez
This week we celebrated Bill Granger’s 90th birthday with cake, candles and singing, but I kept everyone hanging out for the cake till after Chris Banks finished his very interesting and informative talk about zoos and Zoos Victoria’s global partnerships to conserve species. Getting people involved to help via practices which both improve the lives of local people and improve conditions for the endangered species is the key, Chris says.
Other visitors were Jules McLean, Michelle Critchley, Michael Jessop and John Womersley. Another cause for celebration was the induction into our Club of John Womersley. Please continue to make him at ease and answer any questions he may have.
Next week, all being well, Alex Birnie, Jules McLean and Benji Brundin (hopefully fully recovered) will all be inducted. Another thing to celebrate! As well as pizza and an entertaining Member behind the Badge presentation.
Monday’s Board meeting was the last for the old Board and the first of the incoming Board. Besides Changeover, we have already started planning for next year. Cathie Macmillan is retiring from the Board after a long stint so thank you very much for your efforts, Cathie, and enjoy a bit more time to yourself.
Don’t forget to book for changeover, it’s less than a fortnight away. I better write my speech!
Elizabeth
