Nick Lund, who coordinates liveable communities at the City of Boroondara, profiled the essential features :- an economy of $12.39 billion, emphasis on health care and social assistance, and with a significant population aged over 55. With 53 shopping precincts and 11 trade associations, there is much to deal with. Furthermore, there are 28 secondary schools in this location. The City of Boroondara has a strategy in the " Boroondara Community Plan 2021-2031". Five strategies have been established in consultation with all age groups.
Lucinda Bakhach is a trained economist who now works for the City of Boroondara. The City of Boroondara facilitates special trader associations, running business events and delivering relevant workshops. She informed us about the Camberwell Fresh Food Market, which is owned by the City of Boroondara. In her words, the Council wants to add value in the space and help with assessments for the associations. She described the process of place making, noting that many businesses are moving from Union Road to Maling Road.
Some interesting topics were raised after the presentations, about the progress of the strategies adopted and the effectiveness of the programme.
Both Lucinda and Nick emphasised the importance of Rotary in the life of the City of Boroondara and promised to follow up on some of the queries raised.
