Last Weeks meeting

What a great turnout this week - plenty of members and guests

Pat Little and Karin Simpson have been with us often lately and its good to see them
Irena Bauer returned for the night and brought a friend Egle Prasc
and friends of Elizabeth including Justine Goldsmith, Clair Prosser and Justine Paragreen
 
On to matters in the interest of Rotary
 From the Pres - Rotary Camberwell will be having their annual Arts Show again this year - dates are June 24th to 28th - there will be more details later
  • Lili-Ann gave kudos to Helen and the organisers for the "Guess who's coming to Lunch" on Sunday. It has been a long time since we last had one of those - Here is a short blurb by Rob after lunch at the Simpsons

For those members who unfortunately missed last Sunday’s GUESS WHO’S COMING TO LUNCH event, you missed a wonderful afternoon.

We had three hosts, the Wightmans, Shepherds and the Simpsons.

Great feedback with everyone having a great time with a superb range of gourmet food, especially sourced by our previous member, and Past President, David Robinson.

Special Thanks should go to Terry Wightman, Elizabeth Shepherd and Karin Simpson for going to a great deal of trouble in arranging the hosting of the event.

Also, special thanks to Helen Hartnett and Pat Little for hosting the pre-lunch drinks and nibbles, including Elizabeth’s delicious sausage rolls.

The general feedback was that we will have to do this again soon. Hope to see the rest of you there at the next event.

 
  • Rob reminded those attending that the meeting on May13th is at Canterbury Community Centre where we will hear about the work they do from Tracy Martin, who is the Manager of the centre. A note has subsequently come out from Rob who requires confirmation of attendance. This is a self catered event so exact numbers are important. If you are attending let him know by Friday please. Oh and by the way it will cost $20per head
  • Additionally, in connection with the centre they will be hosting an open event on Saturday May 18th from 10.30am to 12.30pm - Our club will be providing a bbq and, whilst Rob was looking for volunteers to assist, it seems from the show of hands on Monday night that he will have that covered
Tony thanked those amongst the club who have sponsored him on his May50k walk for MS. At the time of writing he had received sponsorship from Ant, Cathie, Alan and John McC and his total was $1163 out of an original target of $1000. Needless to say that target will be adjusted - it would be good to reach perhaps $1500 so of you are open to supporting this cause for any amount here is the link to his page
 
Also, at the time of writing he had completed 51.1km of his target of 100km (another target which needs to be adjusted it seems) - thats over a period of 8 days (with 1 days break)
 
Finally, we say a sad farewell to Ted and Rosemary Waghorne as they venture off to their life in Ballarat - Lake Wendouree to be more precise. Almost 10 years with our club and many more in Rotary - they won't be lost to Rotary that's for sure and I, for one, look forward to staying in touch and popping in for a visit.
