John Macaskill was our host this week with the guest speaker Aris Petratos aligned to John's (and our clubs) passion for the Bees.

We were also given an insight by John into Emma's Garden - the urbanisation of inner Melbourne - a presentation he made to the Morning Tea with the DG. What a great job she is doing in creating colour in the inner suburbs - using nature strips and the like.
EMMA CUTTING AND THE HEART GARDEN
Emma Cutting began a project in the heart of South Melbourne to improve the quality of life of the residents. Nature strip gardens are located in high rise zones, which create a habitat for bees.
So successful has this project been, that within an area of eight kilometres, it has involved many Rotary Clubs. If you want to learn more about "The Heart Garden", the website is : theheartgardenproject.com.
Cathie reminded everyone about our collaboration with RIMERN and WERN who are powering ahead and signing up new agencies providing much needed support to those who need help settling in. We do have a commitment as a founder member, to provide assistance. Many thanks to those of you have already been actively engaged in the working bees etc.
Bob mentioned the R100 project and confirmed the opening date is locked in for Sunday, November 21st starting at 12 noon. We are still not sure about numbers but that information will be coming soon! Also there is a need for a letterbox drop in the weekend/week before so let Bob know if you can help.
