THE SCHOOL OF ST JUDE 
David Dobney, Rotary Ambassador for the School of St Jude, spoke to us about the significance of this project. Rising above poverty through education is the key to success. Gemma Sisia, who grew up in Armadale NSW, wanted to establish a school for young people. Now 54 years old, she has big plans. 92% of the money to support the School of St Jude is derived from Australia. There is also a program called Beyond St Jude, which covers post compulsory education, for apprenticeships and other courses.
Every student who attends The School of St Jude pays back the school for the privilege they have been given. Over 800 students have been supported. Further to this, in the year 2027, it will be the 25th anniversary of The School of St Jude. It is the largest non-government school in the country. The second goal for 2027, is to make the school "recession proof" for the years ahead. For the 26th anniversary of the school she plans to build a fourth school, in the space of the Smith School. Students currently live in the school, a bonus for them.
