We are all aware of the impact of the devastating on-going bushfires. As mentioned in the emails over the passed weeks, the Club has suggested a number of opportunities for members and friends to donate. They are as follows:
Ted Waghorne has been in contact with Bernie Farquar at the Mitchell River RC and they are planning a number of activities to support the community. The East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid committee has been formed in the District. Below are the account details where donations can be made:

John McCaskill has advised that the Rotary Club of Kinglake has already sent truckloads of hay and sheep pallets into the Corryong area and have set up a relief fund for fire victims in Corryong. If any of our members would like to provide a financial donation, the Rotary Club of Kinglake's account is at the Bendigo Bank, BSB 633000 and Account Number 144264876.
Funds can be donated to Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) which has set up a Bushfire relief project which anyone can donate directly to. There are 10 individual projects currently running with the money raised going directly to the communities who need it most. I believe these donations are tax deductible. District 9800 is providing two separate ways for Rotary Clubs, Rotarians and members of the public to provide donations to our Bushfire Recovery efforts.
The first fund will provide Rotary Clubs and individuals not seeking a tax deduction and allow us more flexibility to take immediate action.

The second fund through Bendigo Banks Community Enterprise Foundation allows tax deductibility to individual donors or businesses who require this option. Bendigo Bank has waived their administration fees.

The Club joined with our cluster Rotary group to donate all the gate takings from the last Sunday's Camberwell Market to support the fire services and community in the fire areas. At the time of the Bulletin the unofficial amount collected was $6500 which is an very clear indication that members of the public who attended the Sunday market dug deep with their entry donations to raise this very substantial amount to be passed on to the fire relief cause.
Discussions are on-going and it appears likely that again this Sunday the gate takings from the Sunday Market will be donated to support the fire services and community in the fire areas.
Club member Nora Ley, whose family have a farm in the Corryong area, has advised that she is safe and returned to Melbourne from Corryong last week. The family farm and livestock are unscathed after the fire got within 2 klms but the wind changed and sent the fire back to the fire breaks. Of course the fires are still burning and the the danger is ever present.
