A note from the Co-Presidents
It was wonderful to be able to see clearly to park and enter the CNC building on Monday- the tall floodlights connected and finally working! They turn on and off automatically, unfortunately they’d turned off before our finish time so we were left in the dark again. When I reported the next day to Tracey Martin, the CNC Manager, as she had requested she was happy to hear the lights worked but annoyed that the off-timing was not light sensitive as she had been led to believe. Tracey assured me that she would contact the electrician to rectify the problem.
John McCaskill was his usual warm and well-prepared self as he chaired our meeting. His thought for the day was home grown and very appropriate:
‘No matter if you are a champ like Lil or a dud like me,
The golf course is a great place to be.’
Before Lili-Ann’s very entertaining and informative talk about playing golf with the Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians, we were thrilled to induct another member into our Club. This is highly appropriate as the theme for August is Membership development. Welcome Narelle Bakyew. We look forward to getting to know you better as you become involved in Rotary activities.
Speaking of activities, FORaMEAL foodpacking events continue, the next being on August 12 at Melbourne University. Also, on that evening I’m attending the launch of Balwyn Blue, a satellite club of RC Balwyn composed of police members and emergency service personnel.
Remember to book in with Co-President, Jillian Woinarski, for the Movie night +- dinner on August 25 (instead of our usual meeting). Please check rosters and dates, for Sunday Market, RIMERN and FORaMEAL (FAM) and if necessary organise a swap in advance.
