A note from the Co-Presidents
Many thanks go to Co-President, Jillian, for all her efforts organising the movie night in Rob’s absence.
It’s lucky that we were able to enjoy a lovely, relaxed evening watching the film, “Mr Burton” followed for many by dinner at the Glenferrie Hotel because it’s all hands to the plough from next week.
This is because as we aim to complete the paving around the Peace Poles and plant the pollinator garden at Victoria Park so it’s ready for the Peace Poles unveiling ceremony on Sunday 21 September!
Already the District Governor, Peter Shepheard, is coming as is the Mayor of Boroondara, Cr Sophie Torney, and our local Councillor, Shima Ibuki. You are all invited to the 11am ceremony and the sausage sizzle to follow (using the BBQ which RC Kew donated a few years ago).
We need at least five people each day from Canterbury, and five from Kew for Monday September 8 & Tuesday 9 to lay the pavers, and the same number on Wednesday (and possibly a day on the weekend) to plant the plants. I’ll give more information at Monday’s meeting.
We are having some visitors from Rotary Nth Balwyn to our meeting so be your usual, friendly and welcoming selves.
Cheers
Elizabeth
