Bernie Farquhar is the President of the Rotary Club of Mitchell River. Over the past three years Bernie has devoted most of his time as an adult support person at Youth Insearch. Youth Insearch was founded in 1985 and is a program devoted to rebuilding young lives.

He was born in bred in Bairnsdale, is a second generation plumber and now owns a company called Powerhouse Shop.

He joined Rotary in the late ʻ90s . It was through Rotary that he got involved in Youth Insearch. Youth Insearch is a peer-to-peer group that uses young adolescence to help other young adolescence get through some pretty tough times. They run five camps per year through a camp at Rawson. They now have 50 to 60 participants and thatʼs only in the space of three years. The Youth Insearch program is renowned for its high success rate with helping people aged between 14 and 20 years of age.
Bernie and his Club have also worked with the Canterbury RC on the drought relief project and he will discuss the impact of the drought on the Bairnsdale community and the assistance that the project has provided.
