First home meeting back for the year and we held a forum to discuss matters which will effect the future of the club and enhance our reputation for action. Kyle opened the meeting and provided the following quote for the evening. "Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while other people are not held responsible for what they themselves are doing today?" - Thomas Sowell Pres Edda welcomed everyone backand followed with the matters in the interest of Rotary Bob provided an update of the changes happening within RIMERN. After their success over the last 12 months plus they have expanded their warehouse space with the departure of the Canard group, a strong supporter of the project. This has meant acquiring more storage racks and is a positive move as they are able to support a braoder cross section. They have also recently signed up another agency partner in the Uniting organisation for Vic and Tas. Bob is also creating the next roster which starts in March and he will distribute soon. Val advised that the next FORaMEAL packing event will be with the DG in the Bendigo cluster and is this coming Saturday. They have enough helpers but welcome others to come and join them. Saturday 4th Feb 10am at Eaglehawk Mechanics Hall. On the subject, Doug has advised that they have delivered a pallet of 40 boxes (8000) meals to Foodbank. David Z advised the members of the new roster for the lunches - those are included in the bulletin. Finally Rob S commented that we do have a good list of speakers for the club over the next few months but that there are gaps and members are asked if they have anyone they would like to recommend. Let Rob know Thanks to Anne for her report on the forum FORUM NIGHT AT THE ROTARY CLUB OF CANTERBURY Planning for the future and setting goals to reach for a particular purpose comes naturally to many people. At the meeting of The Rotary Club of Canterbury tonight ( 30/1/2023), the members present were given the opportunity to outline what goals should be set for the following foci - youth, environment and community service. Each table was provided with a large sheet of paper, some pens and we then noted specific improvement we sought in the above - mentioned areas. We also completed a form which established our specific skills sets, our areas of interest and how many hours we had available to give to them. This is what our Rotary Club describes as a forum. It is a time to reflect and to list the steps required to meet specific projects. Edda, our President, will collect and collate the data and present it to us as an overview for future planning.
