Good turnout for the last official meeting of this presidential year.
THOUGHT FOR THE NIGHT:
" It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt" ( Mark Twain)
Just a couple of comments from the Pres as she celebrates her year - there will be plenty more of that next week!!
Thank you to everyone for a great year, your support, advice and guidance, thanks for surviving another year of lockdowns and embracing our hybrid meetings. We had a huge success restarting FORaMEAL packing events with support from the schools and other clubs, BusyFeet restarted (unfortunately it has been an abridged restart due to lack of help with running the program). Our support for the playground recovery program has been solid
We were there when the R100 project for our Super Cluster finally got off the ground - that is the Yarra Park playground. We have supported RIMERN financially and physically as it has grown from strength to strength
A big thankyou to all those who make our weekly club meetings run smoothly -they are John, Graham and Graeme, Rob, Ted, George, Anne and David.
A reminder to register for RICON, hopefully many of you have booked to attend the District Changeover as well.
Camberwell Art Show starts with the Grand Opening on June 24th
Nathan Stuart, who now lives and works in Albury, confronted the members of The Rotary Club of Canterbury with what is essential to know and what needs to be further developed.
Currently, a RYPEN Coordinator for District 9790, he plotted his involvement with Rotary and the development of his leadership skills from 2014 until 2020, when he ultimately joined the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek.
The profound discoveries he made as a result of his involvement in leadership programs in High School, and in RYPEN, in the year 2015, gave him his focus in his life. It eventually led to his being appointed as a Director of the District RYPEN Committee.
He made the statement " Young people want to join Rotary", and he provided supporting evidence to back this premise. The challenges to obtain young people deal with engagement, retention and support. The natural benefits of Rotary include the provision of mentoring, social interaction, community participation and the maintenance of authentic connections with club members.
In the upcoming year, 2022-2023, with the theme "Imagine Rotary", Nathan asked three questions : Is your club ready for change? Would you change? Would you compromise?
Thus, his final point of the presentation truly resonates. It is now or never. With Rotary Clubs struggling for membership, we need to heed the call
