Last Week's meeting - 11 May 2020

Tony Laycock again chaired the Club's online meeting last Monday.

He raised the following matter:
  • That members are requested to  submit project proposals for 2020-21 by 18 May.
  • Members to think about which Committees and projects they would like to be involved with in 2020-21 and to contact him with the details.
  • The plan to create a virtual connection group of members and friends who have participated in missions to the Philippines. Emails have been forwarded to all past participants of whom the Club has a current email address asking them to consider joining the group. Advice was also provided in the email about the Club's water project at the Labay Elementary School in the Philippines.
  • In place of the annual District Assembly which is usually held at he Melton trotting facilities, there will be an online Assembly this year on Sunday 24 May . To register for the Assembly please goes to this Trybooking link https://www.trybooking.com/BJPCZ
  • The Board has approved funding of $2000 to the Girl Guides to assist with the installation of a new kitchen in their clubrooms.

Waggle Dance Creates Excitement

There have been some fabulous videos created by waggle dancers.

Also there is a great video and talk by Coast Georgiades, ABC Gardening Australia presenter where he speaks about bees and also mentions the Canterbury Rotary Club. Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/CostasWorld/videos/3081859795193252/

There is still time for you and your friends to do a waggle dance video. Here are some important links:

Next Week's Speaker - Wally Ballout

We had a false start last Monday as there was a mix-up and Wally Ballout was not available to join our online meeting.

However Wally is going to be with us next Monday  and he will be returning again the following week  to provide a second installment speaking broadly about the NBN and  in particular about NBN plans.

His role as a community ambassador is to meet with local community and residential groups to help educate them about NBN and what it means for them. The initiative is to ensure the community has all the necessary information during the rollout of the network.
