Message from the Co-Presidents Week 16 March 2026

Notes from the President

Even though it is two weeks since our last meeting there has been a lot going on in my world. I attended Rimern for the first time in several months and packed linen , which had been damaged by heavy rain through the ceiling . They desperately need helpers and so if you do have some spare time it’s worth considering going over to provide a hand.

There was a citizenship ceremony on 26th February at which 180 people from 36 countries were naturalised. It was a thrilling event for them.

The following day there was a Presidents meeting where the seven Presidents from our craft  group get together to discuss issues and what the other clubs are doing it. It is really quite amazing how much work the road Rotary clubs are performing. They are achieving great things in the community. They also asked me about changeover which I now need to organise.

On Sunday, 1st March , I sat in on a zoom meeting for the Rotary District Grant and was surprised to find that there there is a reasonable amount of money available and the coordinators explained that it is not too difficult to get a grant – if the questions are answered correctly!!

And then back to our regular meeting on the 16th with the speaker being Colleen D’ Offay from Donations In Kind followed by a board meeting.

I also need to remind you of the Volunteers Expo to be held in the Hawthorn Arts Centre on18th March and if you can help, could you please contact Elizabeth as she may need extra hands.

Have a nice few days until we meet again.

Cheers,
Jill

Next Week's Speaker - Colleen D'Offay

Colleen D’Offay is a  highly experienced senior executive with more than 15 years of success in driving cultural change and providing strategic and operational leadership.  She is the CEO of Donations in Kind in West Footscray, a volunteer-based repurposing facility that collects and redistributes goods, primarily donated by companies, hospitals and educational institutions. These items are sent to developing countries and also provided to disadvantaged individuals within the local community. Colleen is President of the Rotary Club of Brighton for the 2025–26 Rotary year..

FORaMEAL Event 31 March 2026

Caulfield Grammar Caulfield Campus – Tuesday 31 March 2026

As advised, we will be holding the event in the new senior building.

It’s a 3-4 storey red brick building with the entrance directly off Merriwoola Street. The event will be held on the ground floor just inside the building entrance, on the right.

Car parking is in the car park off Tantram Avenue (Surrounded by a new wooden fence).

Merriwoola Street is off Glen Eira Road. If coming from Hawthorn Street end and turning left it is the last street on the left at the end of the school campus. Follow Merriwoola street and turn right into Trantrum Avenue and then left into the carpark.

If coming the other way and turning from Orrong Road, Merriwoola Street is the 1st street on the right. Then, turn right again into Tantram Avenue and then left into the carpark.

We need to go to reception to sign in and receive a school lanyard. The teacher contact is Matt Lander.

I will send our WWC details but bring your WWC just in case.

We will set up at 11.45am with packing 1pm – 2.30pm then pack up.

The truck can park on the forecourt area and stay there for the entire event.
