Stories
Last weeks meeting
Thanks to those who turned up for our Zoom meeting on Monday.

A warm welcome to our guest on the night Renee Wright, recently arrived from Jamaica. Renee met Elizabeth at RICON and decided to see what it was all about.  She provided us with her thoughts on the packing event and how it was a great opportunity for her to meet new friends. Hope you got a good feeling for the work that we do Renee.

Couple of updates from Pres Edda

  • The Menzies Malvern visit turned out a little disappointing as only 8 of the 15 required turned up on the day - we still managed to get a small reward for it but have promised to repeat the effort in the near future
  • Changeover is upon us - have you booked - details included below
  • Next weeks meeting is at the Camberwell Art Show - here are more details
For our replacement meeting on Monday night, we are attending the Rotary Club of Camberwell Art Show from 6pm -7pm, followed by dinner at the Hawthorn Hotel at 7pm.

Here is the link to book your attendance at the Art show: $20 pp included wine and cheese:

We are booked at the Hawthorn Hotel - 481 Burwood Road Hawthorn for dinner.

The menu can be looked at here: https://thehawthornhotel.com.au/eat-drink/

Kindly advise Edda directly of your attendance for dinner only with:

how many attending and any dietary requirements by 5pm FRIDAY.

On to the rest of the meeting

Generally, the meeting was a review of the events at RICON Doug provided further feedback on the total packing with questions around the distribution of the supplies. At this stage we are still waiting for District to confirm details
Ted gave feedback on the activities of the ESRAG team which included visits or tours to
  • DIK
  • the Green Line
  • Herbarium
  • Hepburn Springs off grid wind farms
  • the flying fox colony on the Yarra
In other news Pres Edda confirmed that she had donated 6 quilts which had raised over $1300 for End Polio -great effort

So, in summary a short whats coming up.

24 June - District Changeover - Imagine moves to Creating Hope in the World under incoming DG Ron Payne

RIMERN Wine fundraising is back
Buckle Up wine lovers, the Van Range is BACK for Winter!

RIMERN’S fundraising wine range, Van Rouge (for the red lovers), Van Blanc (for those who enjoy a crisp white) and the new kids in the range, Van Rose & the sparkling Van Prosecco & Sparkling Shiraz are ready to hit the road to raise funds to keep the RIMERN furniture van’s wheels turning as it roams inner Melbourne’s streets collecting donated furniture, appliances and homewares for the growing number of clients setting up their secure homes after doing it tough in so many ways.

A new range, same great prices, just $17 - $22 a bottle, all selected to help you sip, share & support RIMERN in style!

RIMERN is the premier ‘hands on’ Community Service project of 16 inner Melbourne Rotary Clubs, that supports people who have been experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, refugee displacement, time in jail or loss from fire or flood.

Your purchase of the Van wine range (mixed or solely your favourite variety) will fuel the van and support its new signage, a mobile billboard that will tell RIMERN’s story all over town! Every dozen sold raises $40, so if every member Club sells 20 dozen each there’s $12,800 raised & lots of partying to be enjoyed!

Select & sip from 8 great wines:

  • Adelaide Hills 2022 Sauvignon Blanc
  • Barossa Valley 2021 Chardonnay
  • Victorian Sparkling Prosecco
  • Adelaide Hills Sparkling Shiraz
  • Yarra Valley 2021 Reserve Rose (vegan)
  • Coonawarra 2020 Reserve Shiraz
  • Coonawarra 2019 Reserve Cabernet
  • South Australian 2020 Cabernet Merlot
  • South Australian 2020 Shiraz

Speak to Rob if you are interested in buying some of these wines (also he can give you first hand feedback on them!)
